Title: Burned
Pairing: Watta/Taipi.
Summary: No one would argue that Taipi was Busaiku and Watta's biggest fan.
Warning: Angst. Oh so much angst.
“Jail would be a better option, sometimes, I think.” Tama muttered with a sigh, sinking down into the couch.
Mitsu shook his head, chuckling slightly. “I hear the food sucks, and they are stricter than the jumisho will rules and schedules.”
Tama sighed, his eyes flicking over to the non-frontmen of the group, dressed in sharp grey suits. “But now, Miyata is insufferable. He keeps commenting on how he will challenge me for the prince type and I just…. Jail. At least I could sleep in peace.”
“You are too pretty for jail, you would get all kinds of attention.” Mitsu spoke with a leer, leaning over to Tamamori, pressing into the taller man’s space. “And just what is Miyacchi doing to keep you from sleeping? You can always just refuse to let him spend the night you know.” Taipi ignored them, not even cracking a smile when Tama shoved Mitsu off of the couch and onto the floor, instead watching Busaiku from across the room. Well more accurately, watching Watta.
Because the man looked amazing in a suit. Really amazing.
He had it bad.

There was no one in Johnny's, and maybe in Japan, who would argue that Fujigaya was Watta, and therefore Busaiku's number one fan. In fact, he had the lyrics and the choreography to the PV memorized before Watta did, since he was horrible at remembering lines and lyrics, and what kind of friend would he be if he didn’t help him learn? However, being Watta’s number one fan also caused a number of difficulties, since nothing in Taipi's life could ever be easy. The first and foremost was, since there were several things (designers, clothing brands) and people (Marius) that Fujigaya was fond of, that Watta never believed that Fujigaya was his number one fan AND in love with him. Which he was. Utterly and completely. Everyone in the agency knew it, he was certain. And everyone in Kisumai knew it without him having to announce it ever, and Kitayama was even nice enough not to give him shit about it, since you don't tease people for their true and pure feelings of love (at least not when they were tall enough to ‘accidently’ elbow you in the face which you were on your skates, which had only happened once).
Which is why, with the announcement of Busaiku, though before that really, Taipi had decided that he would do his best to convince Watta of the truth of his words. Watta, Miyacchi, Senga and Nika were all doing their best to shine, and find a place where all 7 of them were equal in the eyes of the fans as they were in each others eyes. The least that Taipi could do it try and more seriously convince Watta of his sincerity.
Which only had a small thing to do with the fact that with Nakai-senpai’s announcement, Watta would be getting a lot more attention and press time, they all would actually, that the rest of world would be able to see what Taipi already knew, which was that Watta was amazing and so, before that happened, Taipi wanted to make sure that Watta knew that he was in love with him. Romantic love. The 'I want to take you on dates, and snuggle on the couch, and just be stupid with you' kind of love. Not the 'I want to squish your face cause you are totally adorable' kind of affection (not love) that he had for some of the juniors (like Marius). And so, Taipi took the most terrifying and important strategy that he could think of.
He asked for advice from the Kisumai mom’s, who were more that happy to help beginning the tradition of tea and pastry strategy and encouragement sessions. More specifically, mostly Tama’s mother, though sometimes Miyacchi and Senga’s moms, and every once in a while Kitayama’s mom, but then he had to deal with Kitamitsu and Kitamama and that was more than he really ever wanted to deal with at once. The other moms kept Watta’s mom updated on things (which was mortifying the first time that he found out), and while she could not attend the strategy and advice meetings, she often sent along apologies for her son, and the difficulties that he was causing for Taisuke, but she always encouraged him to try his best. Which was also embarrassing, but at least his family (or Mother) was supportive of the idea, and maybe he stood a chance. But still, he had wanted to confess and get Watta to believe him before they told their families, but really, everyone knew. Even his mother, but other than occasionally asking how things were going, she didn't bring it up.
And so Taipi and the Kisumom’s also spend a lot of time discussion what progress Miyata was making with Tama, since he was oblivious, and obviously in love with Miyata, he just didn't seem to recognize it for what it was. Miyacchi was, Taipi thought, exceptionally patient, though he knew the other man got frustrated. Who wouldn't? But at least Tama was responding, if even in part, sometimes. Even if that was only waiting a few seconds to bully Miyata, or allowing the other to snuggle up against him for a moment before shoving him away. But they were close. And they had sleepovers, and went shopping for presents for each other parents, and were a part of one another's lived. Going out to play in the snow. Going out for dinner. Doing things together.
Watta…he just laughed it off. Taipi couldn't remember the last time that he and Watta actually went someplace together. Watta seemed to cancel a lot, on their museum outings, or dinners, or anything really. Watta was always too busy, and while Taipi always asked Watta first, Taipi also filled his schedule up quickly, so there wasn't a lot of room for Watta. But if the other had ever said yes he would cancel plans with other people in an instant. And they would understand, since it had never been a secret from anyone where his affections lay. But it never happened.
But that didn't keep Taipi from asking.
He should have read the signs better. Watta had a rough night the day before, staying late to practice for Busaiku, since it was going to be their first TV appearance, and while the lyrics weren’t that difficult, nor the choreography, he wanted everything to be perfect for them, and for Nakai-senpai. But it was something more than that too, and as the person who was supposed to know Watta best, he really really should have noticed.
There was tension in the lines of his body as he entered, and he didn't even mumble a greeting to anyone in the dressing room. He just pushed his way to the back, throwing his things down into a table, and stalking over to the changing area, to get dressed for practice. That alone should have been enough of a warning signal.
Taipi should have known better, but all he knew was that Watta was unhappy, and he wanted to cheer the other up.
Which was the exact opposite of what happened.
Taipi had gone to the cafeteria, ordering two drinks. One of them just the way Watta liked them. Because he just knew these things, after all these years. He paid close attention to Watta after all. Usually.
At just the wrong moment, when he was just about to set the steaming hot drinks down on the table and take a seat next to Watta, as he always did, Nika and Senga came rushing through the dressing room. They were loud, and laughing about something and Nika was swinging his bag. Unfortunately he swung it rather hard into Taipi (what was in there, a ton of bricks?), who went hurling, drinks in hand, forward across the table towards Watta.
Taipi managed to twist around, slamming down on the table, and the drinks. He hissed, the scalding hot liquid hurt, the long sleeves of his winter clothing keeping the overly hot liquid trapped against his skin, but more importantly, he could see the liquid pooling over the table, and onto the papers there. Papers that Watta had been studying.
“What the hell are you doing? Can’t I even try and learn lyrics in peace.” Watta stood up, glaring down at Taipi. “I thought you were better than their childish pranks.” He snapped and stalked out of the room, the door slamming behind him.
Taipi was still laying on the table, then Senga and Miyach, who had followed the pair in, hurried over to him, fussing over his clothing, and the coffee stains, and the slight burns that seemed to be littering his hands and torso where the coffee had splattered. Miyata carried burn ointment with him, since Tama, but all Taipi could focus on was the fact that something was seriously up with Watta.
~~
Taipi managed to avoid other band-induced disasters that day, though the scene haunted him through the day. It was winter, so at least he could wear long sleeves, covering the bandages and the burns, but the burns hurt, the coffee hotter than it first appeared.
And while Watta had his idol face on for their group activities, Taipi knew something was still off.
Which is why when Tama, on his way out, asked Taipi to give Watta an invitation to the Busaiku CD debut party his family was holding, Fujigaya was worried. Tama had to leave, but his Mom has insisted that he give out the invitations today, and so he was. But, Taipi had to admit, he was more than a little bit concerned. But it was just an invitation, what could possibly go wrong.
And so, as the rest of the band filtered into the room, gathered their things, and then left, Fujigaya waited. Mitsu and Watta were the last to walk in, and as they entered Taipi stood, picking his bag up off the now dry and clean table in front of him.
“Hey, Watta, Tama wanted me to give you this-“ Taipi didn't get to finish as Watta just took the invitation out of his hand, shoving it in his bag.
“Watta, are you ok?”
“Fine, perfect in fact. The only thing that could make it better would be if you could just back off and leave me alone. I don't need you around all the time, asking to hang out you know.” Taipi just stared at Watta in shock, and Mitsu was gaping at them.
Where the hell at his come from? Taipi had not even mentioned hanging out today. Not once. The only communication before this had been the coffee incident.
“Just, when I want to hang out, I will suggest that we hang out, so back off and leave me alone.” And with those words, Watta was gone out of the room brushing close enough to bump against Taipi to make him wince, the burns paining him again.
Mitsu was there in an instant fussing over the burns, but more than that, he asked in a quiet voice.
“What the fuck was that?”
“I don’t know. I hadn’t even asked him to do anything in the last week, cause I know he is busy and stressed. I guess, after this morning…” Taipi sighed, staring at the door lost. Watta had been grumpy and angry before but this, this was something else.
He wanted to find out why, to chase after Watta, but the tone in his voice, his eyes, they had been cold and distant.
It reminded Taipi of their early days, when Watta’s heart wasn't into it, when he wasn't fully committed to being an idol. To Kisumai. To anything, really.
What had happened to bring that back?
Mitsu sighed, gently guiding Taipi towards the door, careful of his burns.
“You are coming home with me tonight. I don’t trust you on your own, not with the kicked puppy look that you have on your face.” Mitsu’s voice was kind. “On the way home, you can even arrange your next meeting with the Kisumom’s. I think my Mom is home tonight, and she always seems to be able to point out something that we seem to have missed...."
Taipi allowed himself to be lead out of the room, following Mitsu around.
He was not sure what was up, but this might be a problem that was too big even for their moms.
