I have to admit I have a kind of weakness for the 'imperfect' design in movies from the eighties and before. I saw the original only recently and was stunned by the gorgeous graphics, but there was also something gritty and weird about it that I found very charming. Modern remakes (or sequels) tend to be so polished that they lose that.
(Don't mean to put a what's-it-called on your enthusiasm, though!)
Oh, overwhelmingly, I prefer originals and canon -- whatever the format. And I will always love the original Tron. However, I admit to being blown away by THE PRETTY of the clips of this new film! That IS somewhat unlike me. (Avatar, for instance. Pretty, but I was so bored I turned it off.) But Tron's not meant to be a deep intellectual story or an arty experience, so I can forgive myself for being so superficial :) (Nor was Avatar deep, but...)
Daft Punk are aesthetically pleasing to me too.
Though we all know that looks aren't everything :)
Well, Avatar... There's still a difference between a story that's intellectually not very demanding and a story that's an insult to your intellect. XD
Daft Punk - I didn't know what they looked like but you're right, their outfits are amazing! Mmmm. In all honesty I don't really like their music, though. Vocoders... *shudder*
