"There are FOUR lights!"

Terrifically glad that this week is over. The work week specifically, of course. The workplace atmosphere is so deadly mind-numbing or soul-sucking on so many levels, and I can’t survive it much longer. I redeemed much otherwise-useless time this week by listening to podcasts of The Tobolowsky Files (on mustinvestigate’s recommendation). Very entertaining ( Read more... )

Ah, David Warner. I love him, too. Strange, clearly his role in 'Twin Peaks' doesn't count as nerdy... (Also, I'm disappointed to see he makes no appearance in 'Blake's 7', which I had somehow expected - though I did recently see Michael Gough there as an idealist world leader who blows up his own planet.)

I wasn't aware of the Challenger disaster the day it happened, because I was only 3 years old (I don't have any specific memories from that time, except moving to a new house and getting a little brother). My boyfriend (who was 6 then) tells me they talked about it at his school, having been particularly interested because a teacher was on board.

Heh, yeah -- I'm not sure whether the criteria involved that the role be a nerdy one, or the film itself, or perhaps even the way fans made the film or show nerdy! An unscientific study, this top 10 list. But I'll watch (and enjoy) David Warner in anything :)

Yay, Tobo! He's gotten me through a couple of crappy workweeks too.

I remember the Challenger being a huge topic of conversation when I was in 1st grade, and hearing that Christa McAuliff's last words had been something like "what does that button do?". Not sure if we'd been aware in class about it before the disaster (wasn't the point of having a schoolteacher on it to bring in youngster attention?), or if it was only important after it had become a major news story.

I've listened to about 20 episodes already, so I should pace myself. It's a coincidence that just a day or two before the Challenger anniversary, I listened to the podcast when Tobo was explaining that study that showed how people drastically mis-remember where they were / what they were doing on days like that. I'd heard of that study before, but I really don't think I recall that day wrong. Sure, my memory probably skews other events, but...
