Evidently one of the major mail servers has blocked LJ notifies because of Russian spammers. You might check the LJ news to see if there might be a resolution of the problem soon. I've sort of given up on the notifies, but I still am getting occassional notifies in my email.
I use Yahoo, and apparently it's the hardest-hit. Yes, the inbox has most of them, but there are a couple that just say, "(You are not authorized to view this comment)" which is highly confusing!!
You're right, though. Today LJ has advised that we just use our LJ inboxes.
Also, apparently everyone has been having that comment problem... no wonder my inbox has been empty as of late. actually it's because you haven't been updating, PN, but sure, blame it on the Russians.
Ultimately, someone somewhere is trying to prevent spammers. The temporary inconvenience is okay in my book because the spammers often get me via LJ >:(

At least it helps me practice my Russian.

Sorry to hear LJ is being so annoying. I don`t think I`ve missed any message notifications. I always use the LJ inbox though, not my regular e-mail.
Torrents are the best! I couldn`t live without them. ... Well, not as comfortably. ;o)

I have Yahoo, and apparently it's the one affected the most here. Ah, well. LJ's inbox is functioning fully, however. I'll stick to that.
