So, let's talk Hetalia.
I always feel like no fandom's perfect, and this fandom is far from it. We have excellent people in here: great artists, writers that make me laugh and cry, among others.
BUT.
We also have those who comment on every single non-Hetalia country related video on YouTube with "LOL. Hetalia." This is why many people who know some Hetalia fans are not so happy with us. Of course, this is such a small portions of fans, but they are the ones you notice first, right?
And then we have those who think country relations = sex. If a country is allies with some other country, doesn't that mean that they're friends? I suppose this is more of an artistic preference, but I wouldn't pull in the actual rulers of the country into it. At all.
Then we have Seychelles. And Hungary. Belarus, Taiwan, Belgium, Vietnam, Ukraine, Liechtenstein. What's with all the hate, ladies? I love all of these characters, they're such strong ladies. So...what did Seychelles ever do wrong? Sure, she got all the guys in Gauken Hetalia, but she was supposed to be the fill-in character, where you place yourself. And the other girls rock. If you just don't like them, that's fine, just don't hate them for being females or for getting in the way of the yaoi-fest.
Now, onto pairings. I don't really ship. I just realized I don't like many of the pairings, I like them as friendships or bromance. Prussia/England? Drinking buddies, bring it on. Poland/Lithuania? Heterosexual life partners. France/England? Hatred and friendship. That's all I really think. Though, I do have my own pairings that I like, but not a lot. Russia/Lithuania, Prussia/Belarus, Russia/Prussia and England/Seychelles.
I don't mind if you guys ship countries, that's great! But remember, they're people too. Please try to be sensitive to other people's feelings if you're going to post stuff online.
And don't be offensive. Please don't make Holocaust jokes, or that one cosplay incident on Passover. I'm Jewish, it hurts me a lot when people do this.
