An excellent use of the prompt showing the depth of the relationship between June and Neal. In a way, Neal is the son June and Byron could have had which strengthens the mother and son bond. Thanks for taking what we have seen on camera and giving us a glimpse of what could have happened after the cameras stopped rolling.

You're very welcome. I actually struggled with the prompt for some time - I initially drew a complete blank, then I had a few vague ideas that I couldn't get going. Finally I realized that it was about June (and composed most of the story in my head on the drive home from my mom's yesterday).

Loved the ficlet--I really like the compassion and insight you've imbued June with here--from the moment she meets Neal and right to the last. And I really like that he was able to say good-bye to her.
