my two cents: I think what you're saying and something I agree with is that honor has greatly dissapated in Western society in the last century... it would be more honorable if you fought it out with someone using the blade (I'm a machete fan myself) or fists, but guns are so easy and usually the people that break into homes in poor neighborhoods aren't exactly the brightest and certainly don't have any honor (especially stealing from poor people). It's not a matter of "guns are fun," it just may be your only way of surviving. It was the next step in human technology... and by accepting new technology, we sacrifice some of our old ways. But you gotta survive somehow. I, myself, don't own one... though since my encounter with the creepy, middle-aged guy following me up to my apartment, I've been considering it... but I also don't live in that bad of a neighborhood... I seriously suggest you take courses for it or have your relatives teach you and hopefully, you'll never need to use it.
