I'll be the first to admit, that I'm completely uneducated about party lines and politics and what are Obama and McCain all about, and various discussion in various forums do nothing to enlighten me, therefore I will ask the group who reads this humble miniscule corner of the internet (i.e. my LJ) to explain to stupid little me what's right and ( Read more... )

(shrugs) I'm going to vote Republican, although I'm not at all impressed with McCain. I _am_ impressed with Sarah Palin, however.

I don't understand how being a former beauty queen can be an argument against her, though. I just don't get it. In what manner being pretty might be a hindrance for a politician (or at any other job, for that matter)? And what exactly is sportscacter?

Her anti-abortion stance is the only thing that I'm not totally happy about with her. She's staunchly pro-contraception, though, and in that I'm with her. I'm not a big fan of abortions, though, but I think that the ones who are careless and stupid enough to get that far in our age of affordable contraceptions shouldn't be allowed to procreate anyway. But hell, you can't get a politic who'd be 100% in concordance with you, so I'll take 90%. I'm with her on the most important issues, anyway.

PS: anything but Obama. Do you want back in the USSR? That's what his 'change' is all about. "ДО основанья, а затем..." Что затем - он знать не знает и ведать не ведает.

no. the beauty queen aspect just confirms what i thought all along--it's the same breed of people that go into beauty contests/acting/reality shows that go into politics. Attention whores and such....a part of me really longs for a "normal" person in the position of being chosen for the president, but "normal" in my eyes people shun the public spotlight.
Pro-contraception is good, but what if it fails?...honestly, nothing is 100% effective, and being pregnant with unwanted child and raising that child can't be easy...
As far as Obama is concerned--funny you should mention "do osnovan'ya, a zatem". Just the other day i was telling my hubby that this is what Obama ideas feel like...

She went to this contest to earn money for her education. Don't be so quick to judge.

Sweets, from the beauty contest she got a scholarship to pay for the college. If I had this chance, I would take it. Wouldn't you? We had MIT student who became miss MA. I really don't understand what is wrong in participating in a beauty peagent. It's a real opportunity for some people (and it's not like she had a lot).
As far as Obama is concerned - he is just completely clueless, to the point of being scary. The guy cannot answer a question w/o a teleprompter, and he's afraid to express any sort of opinion, because somebody may not like him. He's completely ridiculous with all this stupid "hope and change" bullshit, I am so sick that people fall for this loser.
