This was sooo not how my life was supposed to go...

He had picked Jazlyn up from her first day with the new nanny on his way back home from the labs as David had asked. Neither Nick or David were here, something going on with Bates and Moore. But he and Jazlyn had been getting along fine. He had even managed to feed her something vaguely healthy. That was before he mentioned it was bedtime and ( Read more... )

Dr. Kav's strange words get her to pay attention. She doesn't understand any of them, but it sounds funny and he's singing it in a nice way. "Ami never sang songs like that." She whispers but it's only a mild complain.

"Do it again!" She says as soon as he's finished.

He sighs, taking a breath. "Ok fine. But only if you get into bed." He insists, walking her over to the small bed and tucking her into the cover. He's about to pull up a chair but one of her little hands wrapped around his wrist stops him and he lies down on the bed next to her.

Smiling, he sings it again. He's on his fourth turn, each version getting progressively quieter when Jazlyn finally falls asleep. He's exhausted himself but he decides to stay with her for a few more minutes, making sure she really is asleep before leaving. He's asleep almost before he can finish thinking it, his arm wrapped around the little girl protectively.

Nick walked in quietly, seeing his boyfriend and the little girl curled up on the couch. He smiled and pulled a blanket from his bed laying it over them and tucking it in. He gently brushed the hair out of Jazlyn's hair and kissed Cal's forehead before stepping away and opening the balcony doors gently, airing out the room.

The sudden movement in the room causes him to stir and he gets up, following Nick to the balcony. The early morning air is crisp and breezy and he cuddles up to the marine from behind, trying to keep warm.

"I have no idea why smart, rational people decide to have children." He whispers conversationally in Nick's ear, resting his chin on the man's shoulder.

He leans back against the wall, sighing happily as Nick works on getting him undressed. His hands wander over Nick's bare back and down to his ass, making Nick's progress even slower. Eventually they're both undressed and he steps backwards into the shower, maintaining eye contact with his lover, and pulling him in almost with his gaze alone. He thinks the right temp on the shower before switching it on, letting the pleasantly warm water fall down on them.

Nick kept his gaze on Cal's sighing in pleasure as the warm water rushed over him. He smiled stepping upto Cal pressing him up close as the water drenched them.

He's flush up next to Nick, their arms wrapped around each other and he nuzzles into his neck. "Love you Nick." He murmurs against wet skin. "Don't ever leave me, ok?"

Without waiting for an answer he lifts his head, capturing Nick's mouth with his and pushes him back against the shower wall, pressing up against him as they kiss.

He sighs, softly enough to be mistaken as one of contentment. But doesn't say anything. He tries not to worry about what happened last night to make his lover so oblivious. Instead he goes about sorting out breakfast, sullenly quiet, with Nick trailing after him. When the table is set, he asks, "you want to wake up the little brat now? Or are you going to hang around here for a while longer?"

Nick ran his hand lightly over Cal's arm, "What's wrong?" He asked gently

"What makes you think there's anything wrong?" He replied irritably. "After all, you seem to think that I'd be happy over the fact that you spent all night with an ex and are refusing to talk about it." He said, pouring the milk in his cereal more harshly than it required and spilling over the edges of the bowl.

Nick sighed grabbing a cloth to clean it up. "I'm not refusing to talk about it. I just didn't want to bring up something that private to him up if I didn't have to. THe man did just break up with his boyfriend."
