Counting amusing little detours and coming from and to Leicester, I'd say somewhere north of 250, easy. Was fun though :o) Definitely helped that we drove the gorgeous twisty scenic A6 route rather than the motorways, which would have been turbo boring.
Might have to do it all again this weekend, I'm going to a family party in Lancashire and I want to go to Claire's do in Notts first >)
Yeah, I agree, driving through the peak district was lovely - amazing scenery! Thanks again, have a fab time if you go up this wkend for your family party:)
Does anyone happen to know the dialing code for Rep. of Ireland? Need to double check with James that its cool to stay at his Sat night & Sun night, instead of Fri & Sat. Or James (if your reading this) - is that ok? I can entertain myself on the Mon if you have work. If its not ok, i can find a cheap B&B for the sun.
The dialling code for Ireland is 353. So the Irish phone number 01 4361114 can be dialled from the UK as 00 353 1 4361114. That is, the initial zero on the "01" is missed off for international callers. The UK works the same way. You can stay Sat/Sun too, that's not a problem.
Thanks James! Thats cool - was a bit worried as originally said i would be staying Fri and Sat, anyway, thats great news! My flight gets in at 8:45am on sat morning - so i guess i go for breakfast somewhere then head to yours or meet you in Dublin somewhere? I presume theres a train from the airport to the centre, or shuttle bus or man and donkey or something?
There are two main ways of getting from Dublin airport to my place.
Taxi - about €25. Leaves from the terminal: go out of the main door, the taxi queue is to the right. Ask for "Gallery Quay". When they don't know where that is, tell them it's on the corner of Macken Street and Pearse Street. On the street side ofthe building is a pharmacy with an illuminated green cross. Go up the access road (the pharmacy is on that corner). Block 7 is on the right hand side. Ring the bell for number 8.
The Aircoach - €7. Leaves from the terminal: go out of the main door, cross the access road, and the stop is about 5m to your left. It's the light blue coach; one leaves every 10-30 minutes. The stop you need to ask for is "The Schoolhouse
( ... )
Think i'll get the aircoach and then meet you at the schoolhouse stop. I'll possibly get there about 10ish - that'll give me time for some quick breakfast at the airport, but will text you. so excited!!! who else is going? are most peeps arriving fri or sat?
