Lecture 12: The New Drones

Dec 17, 2011 12:17

[Phone]

It appears that these "new drones" have started becoming a little too unbearable for the eyes of Mayfield's citizens. Well, then, who am I to ignore the cries of my citizens? Of course I should do something about this. After all, isn't that what a king is meant to do, help the needy of his own whim? But at the same time, I am a doctor and ( Read more... )

Just because they're not real doesn't mean you can get rid of them! [Yeah Charlie, that means a lot coming from a girl who is one of those new drones.]

No, that is exactly what it means. The town has spoken and the "new drones" have been deemed as little beyond eyesores.

I'm rather excited. This is the very first time I have the liberty to perform executions.

[Whether or not the town disagreed with the Doctor, the man would have experimented on the new drones anyway. A tyrant needs little permission from the populace and he believes that he has enough power to retain his title regardless of dissenters. The Doctor is simply doing as he pleased and the fact that he had an excuse to do so was all the more convenient.]

You don't have the liberty! Drones used to be people just like us, why can't these new drones be the same? You can't just... execute them!

[Sunny herself is outside building a really bad snow fort, because she's not sure how to handle that most the people she knows are 'droned' now. But she looks over curiously when the doctor shows up, and frowns a little]

C-can I h-help you?

[He was going to go knock on the door, but this is helpful. He looks over his list one more time and addresses Sunny with his usual calm voice and smile.]

Why, hello there, young lady. That's quite a nice fort you're building.

I assume that you've heard the recent broadcast?

[She just nods, turning away from him long enough to make sure the fort doesn't fall on her, before turning back to him]

Y-yeah. It k-keeps coming on.

I see. Yes, we do have quite a dilemma on our hands. I pity anybody whose name was written on that list.

[And just as he checks his notepad one more time...]

May I ask for your name?

Why are there so many bumbling idiots in this place? Better yet, why is one of them a doctor? This place is obviously messing with you!

... My, my. More dissatisfaction.

Don't worry, my dear. Times are tough especially with so many of those abominations roaming the streets. If you have lost a loved one recently, then rest assured, I will help you preserve his or her memory. I give you my oath as a doctor.

The "abominations" don't exist.

[She won't bother to mention that she's one of "them."]

... Well. Not after I'm through, they won't.

[The Doctor gives a soft chuckle.]

You can't just do that. Even if they aren't real, it doesn't mean they're lesser than us.

Indeed they are!

Those subhumans exist to pervert the memories of all our loved ones. That is their reason for existence and quite frankly, we can do without that.

[...goddammit. She didn't need that memory, not now of all times.]

Maybe, but did you ever stop to consider that maybe, just maybe, they aren't all that bad? That maybe they aren't that much lesser than us?

[Easy for her to say, none of her loved ones have been taken.]

[He gives a smirk.]

... You must have quite a big heart, young lady. A heart that's capable of accepting many and all. It's truly touching.

How long have you been in Mayfield?
