Lecture 13: Welcome to my Kingdom

Dec 28, 2011 10:58

[The Doctor has experienced quite a haul for Christmas. Not only did he get what appeared to look like a stone throne, he also received just the thing he needed to speed up his base's construction: a digger battle robot. It seemed to respond to his command just fine. Perhaps it was just as susceptible to the Demon Crown's power which, admittedly, ( Read more... )

Congrats, ya sound like a full-on psychopath.

And yet, I'm certain I speak the truth. The objective truth.

Ya must've had an awful childhood.

Not at all. My parents were fair and I studied hard to become an authority in my world's medical field. Is there something about me pointing out a flaw in the system that's so wrong?

Tell me. Were you one of those who were forgotten or one of those that forgot?

[Out of curiosity, Theo shows up, only to have to fend his way through the labyrinth that's suddenly show up. He eventually pops out of a tunnel into the Doctor's room, looking annoyed.]

THERE you are. Jesus H. Christ, what IS this?

This, Theo? Hmhm...

[Yes, he must have had to walk quite a while to get to the conference room. Once the defenses are set up and activated, though, any intruder just may have a more difficult time. The labyrinths of the Floating Island had a big role in the Doctor's blueprints for his defenses.]

Why, it's our new base of operations. It's our sanctuary safe from the nonsense that happens in the town.

[He got lost as hell. It's taken him awhile to get here.]

For awhile I thought this was Mayfield's bullshit. You couldn't have built this here - did Mayfield return it to you?

... What are you talking about? Of course I built this here. It took a month and quite a bit of manpower, but here we are... with our own base.

I imagine we can endure another nuclear blast with this on our side.

[Making sure Tieria didn't see where she was going, Hiling walks down the street to her neighbor's house. She wanders the underground, rather impressed with the size of it until she reaches her destination. Her progress is rather slow, impeded by her injuries from the other day.] This must be the place.

... Oh, my. Are you injured, Hiling?

[Despite wanting to become a tyrant, he is still a doctor. The man has to care for his teammates as long as they're willing to work for him. He leans over closer from his throne to get a better look at the girl from across the room.]

[She looks down at the ground. She was never a good sport about losing. As much as she would rather ignore her injuries, this human body just isn't healing as quickly as she would like. She nods.]

I was fighting this guy in armor and I could have beat him, but then my mobile suit disappeared and he hurt me.

... A shame. To think that technical difficulties on the part of this town helped with your defeat.

[The wounds didn't look too severe. It wasn't as if she needed an operation or such, although that would have been preferable for the Doctor.]

Well, you're free to rest as much as you'd like. This is our base, after all.

[Amaimon is likely the very last to arrive to the assembly. Underground tunnels! Underground! The Earth King must explore it all! When he does finally turn up, though, he claims a chair and promptly turns it around so he can sit on it and lean over the backing like some overgrown kid.

Blink and you'll miss how he suddenly had a bowl of popcorn. It... it's just there, now that he's settled down. Omnomnom, not a care in the world.]

I like it. This is a good lair.

[Well, good, Amaimon. It's good that you feel comfortable around the new lair. It's as much as yours as much as it is the Doctor's... as long as you're on his same side. His smile hardly ever vanishes despite Amaimon's casual appearance.]

Why, thank you. I thought we needed something like this... especially after our latest mishaps. Did you get to kill enough of those so-called fakes?

[He digs underground stuff, that's all.]

We've had mishaps? [He must have missed those. Life's just been dandy for this demon.] Not really. I never found any interesting ones to kill. The boring ones aren't worth my time.

The nuclear blast from a while ago is one. And those wretched cannibals aren't smart enough to get through either, I suspect.

... Mm. You're quite selective of your victims.

[Bernkastel simply appears, filling previously empty space as if she had been there all along. Of course, she had taken some time to explore the little complex the Doctor had been working on before she arrived in the main area.]

You've been productive.

doctor_tyrant December 29 2011, 07:21:38 UTC
Indeed.

[Her sudden appearance surprises the Doctor little. The girl didn't seem to care for grand entrances. Bernkastel truly preferred to preserve her role as an observer, only interfering when it should be entertaining.]

A lair like this would let us prevent much of the same annoyances up until now. And, well... a fortress would be nice in time of war.

Indeed.

[Casting her eyes about the immediate area again.]

Better if there were a way to observe the proceedings from here.

[The tone is, vaguely, questioning. Does he have something, or do they still need that sort of thing?]

A convenient idea! If we had anyone aboard who had some expertise with technology, I'm sure we can set up a few television screens somewhere.

You know, an admirer set up cameras on birds to spy on my activities.
