Started in August, but then there was a break when I went to Russia and then I was recovering from the trip, and with all these rains and hurricanes I didn't get very far. I've learned a few things, I'm taking off by myself now, but I don't know how to land yet. Epitom of my life story, in a sense

So when you fly with someone else, they can just override your controls in case things go badly? Or do they just instruct you and hope you don't faint?

Yes, there are parallel controls. Otherwise parachutes wiould be a necesity.
