WTF, Frysauce?

Seems like every restaurant I head to that serves fries also includes some kind of pale, pinkish condiment called fry sauce. It looks like thousand island dressing, but without the relish (or, "without the islands" as Roger put it). What was the impetus behind this ghoulish concoction? I would guess that this pale-pink condiment of which you speak is nothing but mayo and ketchup premixed for you. Which is what Thousand Island dressing is, except there's relish in there, too. Although I've never heard of a "fry sauce" in particular. And don't forget that ketchup is a vegetable!
