Today is World AIDS Day. On this day I am thankful that I am still negative on HIV/AIDS. I also with a heavy heart remember those who have died of this terrible disease. I would like to remember 3 of them in this post

i've heard sad stories of one partner telling the other "yeah - i just got tested" and they have un-protected sex together for a year or so, and during a routien check up, low & behold - they have HIV.
Unfortunately that is very true. My rule is if I am going to go "bare back", which I have not done in a looooooonnnnnngggggg time, we will go together to be tested and see each other's results. Now if he doesn't or will not agree to this, then I'm not going to do it.
when people choose to go "bare" they often forget when they learn they have HIV that they also choose to accept that risk when deciding to not take any percautions.
I've heard of several people who got into this following situation(or something similair) : bttm finds top from the military top states "we get check all the time for HIV - i don't have it, lets go bare" bttm agrees, flash forward 3-12months & surprise surprise - we're having anit-virials!(insead of a baby)...
:-(
then there are couples who are "monogomus" and have un-safe sex after being w/ each other 6-12 months & getting negative test results. well, flash forward 1-2 years & low & behold - everyone's got AIDs (Team America *smirks*).
all joking aside, it is very difficult to get into a safe relationship (let alon sustain one over 30 days w/ most gay guys). I don't want to discourage you from EVER having un-safe sex w/ your partner. But as it was infamously said in Indiana Jones "Choose wisely..." or you shall perish.
Yes, I am painfully aware of how short many gay relationships last. I have the emotional scars to prove that.
When I said it's been a long time since I had barebacked, I seriously meant that. Over 5 years ago. I agree with the old saying of "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".
Adding you is risky? Well I like risk and adventure in my life. Plus you are way cool to quote Indy!
