Personality:

When people first hear about David Hayward, what comes to mind is that he is a brilliant doctor that can make miracles happen. Then you go to the town where he lives, Pine Valley, and find out how much of an asswad he truly is. He’s manipulative, egotistical, and overall a jerk and is not afraid to admit it. Even when he tries to do good, he ends up basically screwing himself over. He alienates himself from everyone, even his own family hates him, and he likes it that way preferring his work as a doctor but does have a soft spot for certain people. It’s best to be hated by David rather than be loved because he would be obsessed at times.

Point one: David is manipulative to the EXTREME. As in, he does serious crimes, gets arrested, but NEVER GOES TO JAIL. How serious are these crimes? Allow me to explain the recent ones: he’s blackmailed his recent (and as of now, ex) wife to stay married to him or he’ll falsify evidence that she was responsible for a plane crash, tried to frame the man said woman loved by faking his death and trying to blame him but it shifts to her instead, making him come back to admit the truth. Another blackmailing scheme includes David telling Erica Kane to call the governor to pardon him in exchange for saving her older daughter’s life as well as keeping quiet on who shot him(this is after he ‘comes back from the grave’), which said daughter pulled the trigger. Sometimes he uses manipulation not as a weapon, but as a defense mechanism mostly when it comes to people he loves; he says he means no harm but it ends up royally screwing him over in the end. He never learns.

David is a brilliant doctor and everyone can believe it; people who were thought to be dead soon turn up a year later alive and in perfect health. He can guide a doctor from a computer to perform heart surgery in ambulance that crashed. He is known to perform miracles and save lives. Now you would think people would praise him for basically playing God and returning their loved ones to them. The problem is that it seems he has a big fucking God complex. That and he uses the ’I-saved-your-life-and-you-owe-me’ card on anyone who crosses him, using that as insurance so they don’t do anything stupid. Note: IT NEVER WORKS. He wants to save lives and be noble but he does everything that a doctor doesn’t (or SHOULDN’T do) like in the current arc in which he runs something called Project Orpheus where he is experimenting on humans for something; we find out that he’s been keeping people (note that all of the victims happened to be WOMEN but possible that there is also a man he‘s treating.) to run tests on some kind of drug. He can also keep the project a secret and get all that he needs supply wise because he now owns the town hospital; it doesn’t help that there are several people who are snooping in that business and are pissing him off to the extreme.

Behind the god complex and better-than-thou attitude is a man who cares about his family. Some of the schemes he pulls is to help them such as switching paternity tests (oldest daughter Babe hiding who mothered a little girl), hiding psycho women and their daughters due to grudges, etc. He doesn’t mean to cause harm but it someone happens: with all of the people against him, it’s not a shock that his last remaining alive daughter Marissa doesn’t care about him after lying to her over and over again. Because of this, it can make him gain vendettas such as an long lasting hatred of the Martin family after in his eyes, let his youngest daughter Leora die on the operating table. The truth was that the girl needed a pacemaker and her mother had given the green light to go through the surgery while David wanted to wait until she was stronger. However, he didn’t see it that way. You can say that this was the point where he pushed people away and grew hateful of the world.

Despite his brutish ways, David thinks of saving lives first: a doctor first and foremost. He will put aside differences with people to save their life because it’s what he vowed to do. It’s the idea of being noble but also gets twisted due to how he acts around the people in his life.

Powers & Abilities: David is first and foremost a doctor; he is seen doing anything from surgeries to typical examinations. Back in his home world, the residents of Pine Valley call him a miracle worker but absolutely hate his guts. He has no magical abilities unless you count how many times he’s manipulated people through blackmail or he brings up the ‘I-saved-your-life’ card to gather minions. Other than that, he is human and have no other special abilities. And yes, he can do heart surgery.

What items will they be bringing with them to Discedo? The clothes on his back(black suit), his hospital ID, and a satchel of medical supplies (Two needles, a small jar of morphine, stethoscope, small bottle of aspirin, and a prescription pad.)

Third-Person Sample:

It’s been a month since the good doctor had settled into this strange world called Fortuna; the name was pretty ironic given the situation the planet was in at the moment. David was a logical man, someone who needed the facts and accurately because in his line of work, one wrong move could kill someone. So as he stayed longer in the small country town, he had learned that countries could have a face and body, monsters existed out of storybooks, and people can fight while wearing spandex and summon large guns out of nowhere.

Someone must’ve really drugged him.

He didn’t believe in such fairytales…not for a long time. David lost that feeling when those he cared about had left the world of the living: his daughters…his family…it was better to close himself and focus on his work than linger in the past for long.

He had to admit that being here had its perks: first off, no Kane women or Ryan to snoop in his business, no cops to constantly watch over him, and it was quiet. But most of all, it was a fresh start. No one knew about what he had done back in Pine Valley. All the lies and manipulation were nothing more than dust in the wind to the people here. Some had praised that a doctor had finally come and it seemed that things would get brighter. After all, David did like stroking his own ego and being a physican that can do hard operations was needed in this place. But there was one thing that bugged him:

“…why does the kid get the good tools and better facilties?”

Yeah, he was feeling envious of the resident doctor in the hospital in Discedo. While there wasn’t a system of who was the top doctor, David didn’t like the fact that he was in the boondocks as it were, being the experienced surgeon he was. And he couldn’t blackmail or find anything to use against the other…

Maybe that girl who kept traveling between the two cities could help him somehow.

First-Person Sample:

[The voice broadcasting over the network sounds like a mix of tired and really annoyance. It was a good thing that the video didn’t come on because everyone would be greeted with one unamused doctor.]

…heh, so this is Hell. Looks like Erika finally ended me, although I did wish it was done in a different way rather than a stab wound to the-

[There’s a pause before he starts again.]

I see…someone took care of that then. And they graciously left me a few items to use but I don’t see the point in using them if I am dead.

I do have to admit that this device is better than my phone…wherever it went.

If anyone can hear me, I want to know where I am and where I can find the hospital. The sooner I can find one, the better.
