I was taught never to tell anyone I had a gun. I know it would take a lot for me to fire it at a human, so I'm not to wave it around or give them any opportunities to wrestle it from me. If I need to fire I fire, possibly through my purse... no warnings.
It helps that I have children. I could do it now. The first time I was offered a concealed weapons permit I declined it because I knew the risk of getting the gun taken off of me was too great; I'd be the one bringing a gun to a knife fight and end up hurt. But now I could use it.
