Mullet-verse fic: The Kind Of Girl

Title: The Kind Of Girl
Fandom: Justice League
Characters: Danny Carter-Kord
Word Count: 750
Rating: PG?
Author's Notes: So it was mentioned in the comments for Making Babies that "Junior and Goldie's kid is going to have to find some OTHER weird-ass way to propagate the lineage, aren't they?" (by clayin) and "Probably involving tentacles" (by timemonkey). So I drew this. And now I've written fic to go with it. ...Does this even count as fanfic at this point? It's all OCs. *hangs head* WTF, man? WTF?

The Kind Of Girl

Outer space was pretty much the definition of awesome.

That it also had nightclubs was something Danny had only just discovered, which ratcheted up space's awesomeness exponentially. And humans in this particular nightclub were still enough of a novelty that he was found interesting just by virtue of his species. Which was a pretty sweet deal, Danny thought as he grinned at a being he was pretty sure he'd seen in Star Wars.

Daniel Carter-Kord was a young, single superhero with a skintight suit, a great body, amazing hair, and the status of being rare in this corner of the universe. It was time to party.

Stepping up to the bar, he let the bartender give his physiology a quick scan so he wouldn't accidentally be served something poisonous to his species. In a club catering to so many different beings, such precautions were common sense.

As Danny waited for his drink (ordered solely on the basis that it came with something like a tiny umbrella but more glowy and ring-like), he leaned back to better look over his surroundings. The music was a little like techno bagpipes right now, but had been closer to chanting cats set to a loop of waves against rocks when he first came in. Danny briefly entertained the notion of seeing if the DJ (if there was one) took requests, but decided not to on his first time there.

Scanning the room for species that looked the most compatible, physically, with his own, Danny suddenly froze. The bartender set his fluorescent drink at his elbow, but he barely noticed.

She was standing in the background, near a wall. At least, the being looked like a she. She-ish, anyway. But with aliens, who knew.

All Danny knew was that he couldn't tear his eyes away from her.

Pushing away from the bar, Danny strode toward her. Not even the sure knowledge that if his cousin Spooky ever found out, he would be making pointed comments about hentai for the rest of Danny's life was enough to sway him from his target.

She was a medium blue and wearing a sleeveless dress. He wouldn't be surprised if the dress was worn more for convenience than fashion, as the being had four tentacle "arms" and too many tentacle "legs" for him to be sure of the number. Even her "hair" was formed from smaller tentacles, stopping at about what would be shoulder-length on a human. Everything about her was beautiful, graceful curves.

Going for the "cool, confident superhero" look, Danny sidled up to her, leaning one hand against the wall and grinning his most charming grin. "How you doin'?"

Large, vivid green eyes blinked slowly at him and one tentacle came up to hover in front of her mouth as she made a soft gurgling sound. The club's translation system informed him it was laughter. Danny decided it was the most amazing thing he'd ever heard.

"Uh, I'm--" he started, but was abruptly interrupted by an explosion near the entrance.

Various sounds of surprise, dismay, and fear rose throughout the club. The smoke cleared to reveal a trio of aliens that looked vaguely like a cliche biker gang...made of rocks held together with clear glue. The club patrons seemed even more distressed once they saw who was behind the explosion, and more of the rocky aliens shoved their way in.

One of the aliens lumbered closer to them to hassle a delicate lavender humanoid with crystalline hair. Suddenly Danny heard a sharp bubbling sound and the object of his earlier attentions was a blur of pinwheeling limbs, knocking the rocky alien biker away from the humanoid and into a wall. The alien seemed dazed but uninjured, and the tentacled beauty glanced back Danny's way as the other rocky bikers took notice of her actions.

"I'm a superhero," Danny blurted, staring at her with renewed fascination.

The vertical black pupils of her eyes darted over him as she rapidly undulated across the floor to his side. "I hope that's translating correctly," she gurgled. "Because we're in for a fight."

Danny's lips slid back in what his sibling called his "yay for fighty time" grin as he dropped into a loose fighting stance and readied his wrist blasters. "It's translating correctly."

As the alien bikers charged them and he briefly felt a firm tentacle slide over his shin, Danny decided he didn't care what Spooky said about her.

This one he was taking home to meet his parents.
