Since we don't get exact dates, just a gravestone that doesn't look too terribly old and the suggestion that the Ponds got to live another 50 or so years in the past in New York, my headcanon is now that they stumbled upon eight-year-old Melody regenerating in 1969 and got to properly raise her before packing her off to Leadworth in the late 80s. Any suggestion that this does not play nicely with Mels' character development or apparent age will be met with me sticking my fingers in my ears and singing the "it's not like Moffat was any more consistent" song ( ... )

Oh but I love the thought that Rory and Amy find Melody and raise her! You are brilliant!

because how is the future like a weeping angel? It doesn't take definite form until you see it, but once you do it turns to stone. Immobile and lifeless. And unlike a weeping angel, once you've seen your own future you can't just close your eyes and allow it to move again.

Wow. Thanks for this. It's a great metaphor.

I had pretty much worked out what was going to happen so I was a bit unmoved on the departures front BUT I loved seeing River again.
