We said sign-ups would close August 6 (today) BUT throughout this first week, if you've stumbled upon us and you haven't signed-up, stumble on over there, take a peep through the community rules and comment with the appropriate word. This is only applicable for this round, for obvious reasons

so we are only using one of the pictures right?

You can use them both if you want to; just those images have to be incorporated in the icon.

Quick question: No animation this round

Does this mean that later rounds will allow animation, or require it?

Yeah, something like animation wouldn't be required because 1) not everyone has an animation program and 2) not everyone is good at, or even likes, animating. So yeah, no worries. ;)
