I mean, the light at the end of the tunnel does eventually turn out to be something other than an oncoming train? Because it sure as heck hasn't happened for me, not yet. Near as I can tell they somehow got the details when I was applying for a legit loan which I ironically never got. I'm not making that mistake again, I can tell you.

Things I've done when really broke: Check around parking meters and newspaper boxes and vending machines for dropped coins. When I found some, go to the store, get a can of cheap tuna, make soup with it and everybody got some. It's not great, but it tides over.

And do find your local food pantry - you've got to qualify for it. They often give tuna, and I'd save that for the pets.
