i reread my last entry for the first time and found so many grammatical and conceptual errors and underexplained thoughts that i'm a little embarrassed. i don't really have too much on my mind other than i can feel time passing again.

out of all the metal that i think is too cheesy or irritating, black metal isnt one, and melodic black metal definitely isnt one. do you know catamenia? i'm looking for this one song that has a really nice piano interlude, but i havent been able to find it on youtube

i dunno, i tried to write it all out but i can't make a hard-and-fast rule about it. something about the vocals in catamenia's songs speak of a devotion to the craft to me. this is present in a lot of ways in metal, yeah. the technical skill of all sorts of bands is a much broader example, and isn't that what defines metal? what is "metal"? it's definitely not an attitude, because this is where most of my ambivalence lies
