While I appreciate such devotion to religious beliefs among many of the students, I'd like to remind everyone that we should avoid using the things that we've given up for Lent as a reason to be more irritable. Furthermore, if someone is keeping what they've given up away from view, that does not give anybody the right to take it for themselves.

Lent is... well, do you celebrate Easter?

Put simply, Christian tradition says that there were around 40 days between Jesus' death and His resurrection, the death being remembered a few days ago and the resurrection being remembered on Easter. In the days between, some people honour Jesus by giving something up; that's what we call Lent.

Well, it's traditional to pick something like sweets or rude language... something that you'll miss.

Well, I've never heard of anyone giving up singing for Lent... perhaps it's because it's so frequently used to praise God.
