Your office needs to train you if you feel uncomfprtable with a catch pole, I can get anyting with mine dog, cat, raccoon, opossum, hell I have even got pigs with mine, they are a great tool if you know how to use one.
Now please don't think I use mine all the time I barley use it except on wildlife and aggressive animals but I do love it.
Now a snappy snare is the most useless piece of equipment every made.
Yes, thank you, my office needs to train me in just about everything!!!! It's very much "here's the car keys, here's your clipboard, now go out and catch something" around here. I am going to NACA level 1 next month, I can hardly wait. I wish I could take all the training that's available out there, but budget budget budget. I feel lucky that they'll send us to the NACA courses if they come around this neck of the woods.
I have used the catchpole successfully on wildlife (skunk, raccoon, opossum) but more to pull them out of places where they're cornered. I've tried but never managed to nab anything that was moving fast.
Now M. swears by the snappy snare. She catches dogs with it all the time. We practiced a little bit in the office with her holding a stuffed dog and me trying to grab it with the snare but our supervisor said we were wasting time and made us stop. I guess I shouldn't have been laughing. Made it look too much like we were just playing a game I guess.
NACA should be good I have done level one and two so I am natinal certified. Its lots of fun and you do lear alot, don't freak out when you get the test on day one and not pass someone in our class got a 25 andits the same test you take the last day.
