I think it's an outrageously good wage, myself. A large part of it is overtime. We get paid two hours for each call out, and we're on call for two weeks out of every six. We get called out a lot in the summer. It adds up. But just the basic hourly is still more than I ever thought I'd be earning, what with my lack of a degree and weird low-paying artsy fartsy job history. I still can't believe my luck, both at getting this job in the first place, and at getting it in this particular municipality that pays its employees so well ( ... )
