I'm fostering another kitty. Sooner than I'd really wanted to, but they told me that she really needed to get out of the cage at the animal hospital, and so oh well ( Read more... )

Living east of your job is the best because then the sun's behind you on your commute, no matter how long or short it is. Somehow I've always managed to live east of where I work. It's the best way!

What's the matter with them? Driving to work and back with the sun in your eyes both ways, and not even noticing? Once again, I don't see how people can stand it.

You and I are much better off. We get the sun at our backs, and we're observant enough to appreciate it!

NACA level one is pretty easy, and I really liked it. The test you take on the first day is the EXACT same test you take for the final. Sorry its so far away my work paid for a hotel for the class so that made it even more fun.

Funny thing is, they were going to send me to Milwaukee to take the class last summer, and they would have put me up in a hotel, but I didn't want to go - didn't want to leave my cats for a week. They were going to make me go anyway, because they have to use up what's in the budget. But then one of my colleagues had to have neck surgery and they couldn't go let me go because we'd be short staffed. So now I get to commute instead. Other than that, I am really looking forward to it.

I'm surprised your employers are not paying for a hotel so you can be rested and focused. I always like these type of Animal Control thingies because right when I'm about to lose faith in the "system" from burn out, learning new things and networking with other people in the "biz" gets my enthusiasm going again! Being an ACO is a hard job, but a very cool one too! Everyday there is something new! Have fun! ~Andrea

Well, I guess my bosses make up for my stupendous salary by being unbelievable cheapskates in almost every other area. Pay for a hotel when I live a mere hour's drive away? Half the town's employees live at least that far away from the office, and you don't hear them whining, do you? Besides, I'm an ACO, I'm supposed to be tough or something - aren't I? Hey, we were lucky we finally got air conditioning in our truck at last! Pay for a hotel room? Not when they can weasel out of it ( ... )
