I love the Autumn like a glass of lemonade loves a dollop of Pimms. The US does this time of year well and deserves at least two sticky gold stars for its efforts.

I need to rejoin Mass Audubon so we can go to 'Tales of the Night' at Drumlin Farm. We did this last year and fitted in with the hordes of children quite well. Why should youngsters be ( Read more... )

I really prefer fall in the US, too. While the area I grew up in puts in a good show, there's always that looming threat of a long, long, LONG cold winter that kind of makes it bitter-sweet.

Here, I love it. I'm intending to take my new camera to some Virginia vinyards once the colours start to really show off.

Yeah, the environment handles the season well, everything really does get very beautiful. But events around this time seem to be well balanced, with the harvest festivals and Halloween. I love autumn back home but there's no Halloween to speak of.

I wonder about doing something in Salem but I always assume it's a pain to park and for us it's an hour or so away. Though it does look like they have some fun events.

I have never been, but according to my dad being in Salem on Halloween night is not to be missed. Not sure about the parking - he has said he didn't have a problem, but that may be sheer luck. When you did the Hammond castle one was the wait super long?

Not for us as we got there as close to the opening as possible. If it is the same as last year you park in the Stage Fort Park car park and get transported to Hammond Castle on a spooky school bus. Then you get tickets from a booth and go and stand in line to enter. We got there before the thing started and when they opened the doors it took half an hour or so to get in. When we came out, the line was ridiculous, and I can only imagine how long people had to wait. There were food stalls there to keep your mouths and digestive systems busy.
