After over 30 vials of blood drawn, they have so basic ideas. It is not Leucemia, cance or lupus. He is showing a positive test for the lupus anti-coagulate. This can be because of infection (strep or something) or can be genetic. The for runner now is HSP. according to a web search ( Read more... )

he does not forget much. He still laughs about singing taps as you changed the tea lights at pennsic.

Given the alternatives, HSP is a fairly bright diagnosis as it's not a chronic condition and has a low incidence of relapse. As long as his kidneys come through it okay it'll be nothing more than a memory in a few weeks :-)

Even though it's not conclusive yet, I think it's not premature to say that we're all feeling a bit relieved and hopeful for you guys and also for Mikey and his little girl. Been a scary couple days that's for sure.

You are correct about the lesses of the scary stuff! All the blood work is not in, but 3 doctors seem to "agree" of the diagnosis. Other worries will be blood clots in the future , but I hope a later blood test will show the tests were just because he had something... and that is why the tests were positive ... but I am notorious for being optomistic.
