This is about baseball, so please, if you don't enjoy or care about baseball, or if you hate it, by all means skip this. Aint it funny how no one credited the Padres with being "not as good as their record indicates because of Petco" when they had really lousy seasons? One thing that has always perplexed me about any sports team that wins when the experts predicted they would lose is the claim that they over achieved. How is it actually possible to achieve more than you are capable of achieving? I can see how a team could underachieve. But to do better than you are actually capable of? Really? I don't think so. This team has achieved what it has actually achieved. Ergo, they are capable of achieving that. One might argue that they are the beneficiaries of all those around them underachieving. But over a 162 game season, kinda farfetched, no? Besides, they still have acheived what they have achieved. Can we just strike the term overachiever from the language?
