If you get time, go by Barnes and Nobel and read the captions for the Watercolor Illustrations for Nausicaa by Miyazaki.

It's interesting to hear how he reflects on the images since the illustration images aren't directly tied into telling the story. It's more about making cover art to sell the story inside.

He's pretty harsh on himself saying things like "well, this image could never happen in the real story, or Nausicaa would never pose like this, or I did this illustration after the series was complete, so my heart wasn't into it."

Ah, he's so serious about his work. I guess that's what makes him the legendary Miyazaki!

I gotta check out those books now. = D
