Yesterday was sunny for a change, with the temps right around freezing, so I made the drive to see my mom, then took her for a drive around the countryside. ( Read more... )
There's another large brick house in town like it; I suppose the same guy built them. I should have drove by that one, too. I can only imagine it would be in better shape. I would love to go through all the crap that appears to be in that house. I bet there would be some really interesting stuff in there. (Maybe the part you need for your microwave?) :) I wish there had been digital cameras when I was in high school. Having a camera just seems to make me look at things differently. The acreage my parents owned had a big old barn on it. A friend and I did some exploring and there were names and dates carved in little hidey holes and old bits and pieces of stuff. I never did too much on my own because I was freaked out by the raccoons. I would love to have pictures to look at now of all the areas in that place.
I know exactly what you mean about digital cameras and how they change perceptions. When I'm thinking about photography I "see" things that I'd never notice otherwise, and it's very cool. (That's one of the reasons I like LJ so much, too ... it keeps me thinking about photos and stories to share.)
And there may well be just the right microwave part in that old house ... but just the thought of looking for it totally wears me out!

And that big brick house is gorgeous. (Probably pretty affordable, too.) If only you guys had mountains ...
