Why I Hate Public Transport

Jul 06, 2006 19:59

Another day, another trip to the back end of Zone 5...

Honestly, I must be cursed by the Public Transport Fairy or something.  Today, on the way to a job, the bus I was on was involved in a shunt.  Spent twenty minutes waiting for the driver to have stand up row with other driver, swap insurance details and get witness statements.  Luckily, I'd ( Read more... )

At least you don't seem to have to sit next to every dead beat, down and out, drunk, exceedingly large smelly talkative person in the entire world. This happened to me every time I got a bus, hence no more public transport for me, I'll continue to use my car and keep on planting trees. Oh yes and I was also lucky enough to get the kid with a runny nose sitting behind who insisted on wiping said nose on my shirt, only the mental images of a cosy cell for two stopped me from killing the brat.

Glad you are getting lots of work, keeping evrything crossed that all goes well for you,

Strangely, I've been reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time on my travels the last couple of days.

Today, this guy sits down next to me and starts rocking back and forth and groaning, just as I'm reading "So I sat down and did some groaning to make me feel better".

Talky people don't bother me too much - my dad was the kind of guy who always wanted to strike up conversations with complete strangers.

Smelly people - hmm, not so much time for. Even though, after two hours on tubes and buses, I don't think I could claim to be the most fragrant...

That said, never had anyone use me as a tissue yet!

Three words - sudden impact. Death.

No thanks, not in London. Too many nutter drivers.

Unfortinately in your new line of work you need to be able to rely on getting to your destination, so public transport, although incredibly useful, is not reliable when you have to be somewhere at a given time.

Hopefully you'll find a better way of getting there, which will be much less stressfull.

Have a fun weekend planned doing spreadsheep cost/benefit analyses of ownership vs. hire-purchase vs. car sharing.

Joy!!

So if a scooter is out I suppose a bike is out of the question too?
What about taking a different bus route. Don't all roads eventually lead to Rome? I know...impractical. I love that you've getting a lot of work! Hurray for capitalism!

Riding a bike in London is utter suicide (unless you're David Cameron, in which case you get these nifty police outriders and a back-up, bulletproof car). Steve is seriously considering coming out with me on a shoot tomorrow, just so he can see for himself the ludicrous calamities that seem to be befalling me!

Of course, with Steve along...It's going to be a perfect connection and you're twenty minutes early...you know that God has a sense of humor about that sort of thing. *G*

Hi dogsbody! A voice from the past here (Two Truths) - phone+pc crashed in October and I lost all info. I had totally forgotten about LJ or I would have been in touch earlier. If you still have my email address I'd love to hear from you. I've emailed you via your new website (which is very smart - good luck in your new career ( ... )

Hi Glyn,

I got your email (sorry, I've been a bit tardy with catching up with the backlog this week).

Best of luck with your journey - kind of puts my trials in the shade!
