Into the lion's den

So, popped over the road today, full of trepidation, to show lady-over-the-road some of my snaps.  Pretty good feedback, I think.  Of the 40 or so photos I showed her, she liked about a third.  And guess what?  Her absolute faves were the James Marsters Words & Music ones - her words "Wow, you've got to do more theatre work, these are great."  The ( Read more... )

My company uses photographers occassionally for marketing material, so I'll certainly recommend you if the situation comes up.

The pictures you've linked to we can't see - "You don't have permission to access /2002_large.jpg on this server". I'm guessing I've seen them on the website already though?

It's good when you've got somebody like that to critique (is that a word?!) your work. At least you know she's been truthful. We all know a lot of people tell us it's good, but when you've got a profssional telling you what's good and what to work on then that's when you're going to get better and better. Sounds like you're already doing quite well! Enjoy :)

Oops - I forgot that I'd turned off the linky thing (silly me)! The ones I was referring to were the second and fourth ones on the website.

Can't tell you how much I'm enjoying this all. One big adventure!!

The-lady-across-the-road seems to be a handy neighbour. Constructive criticism from a professional is a useful resource, and your "things to do" list is great for the rest of us to try. I couldn't cope with the slow shutter speed minus a tripod though!

I really can't believe my good fortune to have found lady-accross-the-road. She said yesterday to drop round anything else whenever I wanted some feedback. So I dropped round a cd of some pictures from Saturday (which I hadn't had time to get printed). Ten minutes later she's on the phone and we're going through them!

Woo!!

I too think that constructive criticism from another professional is great, because it can help you focus on the areas that are weakest and strengthen them.

Cool that she loved the Words & Music photos. I loved that one with the daggar. Best shot of James ever.

Hah - focus! Very good!!

If I ever get the time, I must do you a little strip of those dagger shots (I think I took about half a dozen of increasing intensity - I ended up picking the penultimate one). Good lord, that man can emote...
