Americans complain bitterly whenever they have to pay more for something than they think they should (translation, any price that interferes with their buying something else they want). There is a fixed amount of oil in the worl, but demand is virtually inifinte, therefor the price must continue to go up. Why is that such a strange concept for people to grasp?

well, i think there is a valid issue to be raised regarding the profit margin of oil companies and gas companies, but that's only part of the problem. really what people need to focus on is consuming less. and as i've said before, that shouldn't be difficult but it is because people refuse to change.
