Sirius shivered. This was the chilliest summer he could remember. Yet nothing matched the cold reception he last got from Remus.
He plopped onto his front stoop, racking his brain. What had he done? No matter, he needed to find Remus, tell him he was sorry. He didn’t want to spend his seventeenth birthday without him.
“Damn werewolf,” he mumbled.
Something pounced from the bushes. He found himself flat on his back.
“Happy Birthday!” Remus held out a diamond earring. “I heard diamonds are a girl’s best friend.”
“Not quite,” Sirius yanked him by the hair, into a rough kiss.
