“Great, another wonderful Christmas morning,” Sirius grumbled. And again his parents made an example of him.
Downstairs Regulus was opening wonderful gifts wrapped in lovely paper. He probably got that jacket Sirius wanted. “Mama’s pure blood boy… such a toady,” he hissed.
Wonderful smells wafted up the stairs, making Sirius’ stomach growl. He’d do nearly anything to quiet it; anything but go down and join them. No way would he listen to another word about how he deserved the gift he got.
The contents of his Christmas sock lay at his feet. He waved his wand over the coal, picturing diamonds.
