Animal encounters have ramped up some over the last week or so...seems to be the Time of the Owls. Great Horned owls that fly ahead of my truck and land in the road repeatedly, Short-Eared owls that dive bomb and hover over me with disapproving looks ( Read more... )

Sounds wonderful. Selfish as I may, wish we could see these slivers of experience. You do have a camera of some breed?

A servicable camera I have... but not, I fear, the quickness of thought or steadiness of hand to use it.

I confess that when I see such things, I concentrate on seeing all that I can (my eyesight not what it once was, which was poor at best) and only think of the camera far too late.

I will try, though.

Understandable. The machines can weigh one down and change the experience too. But if it does ever happen it would be a joy.

Our burrowing owl population is slowly disappearing thanks to the wineries.

I'm scanning the yards every night in anticipation of the fall porky invasion...the apples are down, and they'll be coming soon.

Porcupines? They're considered rare here.
