"What is this place?"
The long, eerie room gave off a glow above them as they entered what seemed to be the Orbo production plant. Slitted windows up above seemed to be tanks of the stuff, more than Yurika had ever seen anywhere before.
The barren room gave no clues, however, and no sign of Karasuma, so they continued on, up the stairs into the lab above the Orbo tanks for Michael to hack into more systems.
Even more disturbing than the lack of employees or security was the fact he wasn't finding any trace of a Witch detention center. No place Karasuma might be held, or any of the other Witches they'd captured, either.
Robin, for her part, was staring at one of the short dark tables with no purpose, almost daydreaming. Then she touched what looked like a support pad, it lit up and --"
"Didn't I tell you not to touch--" Sakaki started, but was interrupted by the hiss of steam and Robin's platform going up.
"Dammit, Robin, what did you--" Yurika's voice broke off as she turned around and stared.
It was so grotesque that Dōjima's mind could not process it all at once. Floating hair. Four feet. Tubes. The...masks, for lack of a better term. With ports, holding the heads in a vice.
Dōjima did not have a delicate heart, but she was going to throw up.
"These are the Witches we Hunted." Sakaki's voice was small, and the boy was about to cry.
"The Orbo back there was...that means this place is..." Dōjima's eyes were wide with horror, and they all turned, regarding the various dark circles that spotted the floor. Each one held the Witches, then. Each one...
"So this is what was really behind our 'humane' hunts," Sakaki managed, anger rising to replace fear. "All this time, we've been helping them do this?"
"Karasuma," Robin choked out softly, still unable to take her eyes from the softly glowing tubes. Her large green eyes reflected the light eerily, and Dōjima would almost swear she could see something otherworldly behind them. "Karasuma is in one of these."
"This can't be happening."
