Since the summit was about a number of types of remix video, not everyone reading would have an A-M-V.org account. I just put the streaming links there (in addition to org links) for convenience.
Interesting posts. Hadn't heard of these people before. Wonder how their AMVs turned out.
Hmmm.... the earliest ones I'd gotten to see were back in '91 done by Corn Pone Flicks and/or Jigoku No Video. Think I remember seeing C-ko's stuff at that time.
I actually did manage to track down both Matthew Sweet music vids, though the "Girlfriend" / Cobra one wasn't that hard to find. :p
Give Mimi me regards, if ye could.
Oh, look at my LJ. Sounds like you could tell me which older vids would be good to use in a panel on classic AMVs.
Not even Carl Horn? He's been to AWA, right? I recognize a few other names... Tatsugawa used to chair AX, and I have a tape of Ed Sum's videos somewhere. I tend to forget about Corn Pone since I usually associate them with parody.
Hmm, I'd show Engel and Captain Nemo, since they were hugely popular at the time. Maybe Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic... hmm...
Oh I know Carl and know of Mike Tatsugawa. I'd meant the people who were the creators themselves.
Hmmmmm.... never been a big Engel fan but I guess you;re right. It did hentertain at least. Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic isn't one I remember. Who was it / what anime did they use?
I remember back in the day when AMV creators were like rock stars coming to conventions. It be like... "OMG its DOKI" and you be coming down the steps doing your NWO walk and flashin' those hand signals nobody else understood. Yes indeed, we couldn't help to player hate that because you and your AMV buddies would get all the jail-bait pikachu girls at the cons.
So I guess it was a summit to return to the good'ol times.
As for Christina Crocker and Alex Ed Spax, there seems to be some bullshit going on... I was doing a search on that and one Azumanga video pulled from Youtube said they talked to Spax and he had nothing to do with it and trying to do a counter-copyright or something. There seems to be some bizaar event happening with Azumanga and Youtube.
