Going to Wicked Faire this past weekend was probably one of the best decisions I've made in a while. When
spookyhandle told me about WF, I thought it sounded awesome, but I didn't think I could go so I tried not to look at it too much.

An alternative is to work with an act. White Elephant performers and tech get free admission, for example. We're usually not hurting for tech (our shows being relatively simple, prop-wise), but you'd be more than welcome on the crew for any shows we're not overstaffed at. I mean, assuming you don't wanna prance onstage in a state of undress, which would also be awesome. ;) You'd have to be onhand for the shows and for call, but it probably gives you much more free time than working security.

Frantic and aggressive is a perfect description of my state of mind, lol. You should have seen me when we stopped for gas on Friday, I was so confused and irritated that I had to wait for my gas. Something that takes me 5 minutes took twice as much time, and I didn't particularly like handing my card over and not being able to watch the person while they swiped it.
In VA you can buy wine and beer anywhere, but you have to buy liquor from the ABC (alcoholic beverage control) stores run by the state. This means that there is no competition in liguor prices, Ever. We also have the lovely law that says you're not allowed to be just a bar, you have to serve food which makes up something like 20% of your sales.
