The idea of your beau trying to flirt with my mother is hilarious. Sadly the ponytail and kilt would put him in the realm of my "weird gay friends" and she just wouldn't appreciate it.
We invited some of her friends so hopefully they'll keep her distracted.
I know its better to not engage with her and I do my best but sometimes she makes my capacity for logical thinking go out the window.
I would love to use that WASP ability to evade an argument. My Mom rushed headlong into arguments and my Dad avoided them, so my programming has been hard to overcome.
I think we take what Jess' mom does so seriously because it always affects other people. For example, in this case, had she texted us with some bizarro request to go shopping for something for her, we would have ignored it. But it was for Jess' brother, which her mom knows we'll always respond to because we do feel responsible for him to a certain degree. Or she tries to tell Jess what to wear or how to cut her hair, and Jess has to establish her independence all over again. We've learned the hard way that if we ignore her or change the subject that she just pushes and pushes and pushes.
I'm mostly concerned about Jackie's behavior at the wedding reception. She'll be dodging her in-laws, talking to her friends, and drinking. She's a decent part of the reason we won't be serving hard liquor.
your save at Floating world was heroic in my book, the calm cool way you handled yourself the next day was also a wonder to behold. may your wedding be amazing and the rest of your lives together better than that and i hope to see you again soon.
Aw, thanks. There was no way I was going to let the show get cancelled. If ops hadn't been able to solve the problem I would've enlisted the help of the official DJ's. No show I'm involved in will ever get cancelled if it's within my power to prevent it.
As for the church thing, I just did what I thought was best and would cause the least amount of disruption. I didn't want to cause a scene.
Thanks for the well wishes, I can't believe I'm actually getting married!
