When I started the Davis mascot was a cow, but then they wanted to "improve their public image" and hired someone to come up with the horse logo. The original mascot was a guy with a pitchfork so it's improved somewhat. Her anteaters still look pretty young. They get to be 3-4 feet plus tail and snout. They are one of my favorite critters, though.

It does sound like they are moving up, just very slowly. The horse is better than Guy With Pitchfork. But why not do something cool like a llama, octopus (like the Wunderpus photogenicus), echidna or even the noble weasel?

I think her anteaters are both relatively young, but they're not going to be as big as the ones your thinking of. The big ones you're talking about would be the Giant Anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla), while hers are Tamanduas (not sure if they're Northern or Southern Tamanduas) and tend to be much smaller, 21-35 inches from what I can find. I also don't think the Giant Anteaters are climbers like the tamanduas. No clue on whether they like cheese, something that must be discovered (all in the name of SCIENCE! of course).
