Yup... I'm unimpressed. It's a cute toy, but hidiously out-of-date data wise.

Google's FAQ say that data is one to two years old, however when locating our house, it still shows the empty lot, The Bleachery is still standing and intact, and the parking garage at the Mall is only partially finished... which dictates that that the visual images at least as far as our area is concered are over three years old (and really closer to four).

Checking out areas in Gatlinburg, Cleavland, Chatanooga, and even larger metro locations like Charleston and Atlanta show many of the same discrepancies.

I loaded it quite a while ago, and it still shows no updates. Of course, this might be different for the "not-free" versions of the program. What disturbs me is that there are major news networks now using it as well. LOL!

If you a specific use for it that requires less-than-acurate data, then I'd keep it... other wise it's pretty much a waste of space untill it's better maintained and updated.

It's dated around spring or summer 2002. Construction is still cleaning up after 9/11. Our Condo project only had about 4 buildings in Stafford Crossing finished and no roads. Plus my Highschool puts big numbers in gravel showing the year of the graduating class and that's 02. So it was in the 01-02 school year and there's no snow on the mountains so it was probably spring/summer. Still though, it's fun to be able to see places all over the country from a birds eye view. I saw the Great Wall in China, The place where the Berlin Wall used to be, The Ifel Tower in France, The Statue of Liberty, The Red Square in Moscow, Mt. Everest, The Arc de Triumph, Big Ben, and various Castles in Europe.

It inspires me to get to a place one day where I can go see these things in person. :)

Quit being so negative already! ;P

and ken's right - NOLA is still pretty and pristine in these images, which, for chris' tour, was kinda nice, but very sad.
