Haven't been around for a while, have I? Much as the word is over-used, I think I really might have had flu. Certainly felt totally out of it for at least a week (not good when you're temping & don't get paid if you don't go to work...). Then, and probably connected, there was a definite plunge in spirits with which I won't bore you but which had ( Read more... )

Hello! Hope you're feeling better now.

I have been getting quite worryingly obsessed with building up my icon collection lately. I blame LJ for all those free icon spots.

Yes, I am feeling better now - and it's a tremendous boost to the spirits just being well. Simple things like being able to breathe properly, and indeed just having some energy instead of a body full of aches & pains are so easily under-appreciated! Of course my appreciation will wear off before long.

Icons are funny - on the one hand, I really like the idea of having a few pictures which people will instantly associate with me, as I do for others' (such as your Huflepuf Molesworth); on the other hand I'm going through a really weird love/hate relationship with the written word at the moment (hmm. some confession for an online journal, hey?) and the idea of evoking lots of things in images is hugely appealing. If LJ keep giving me pictures I might be tempted to start communicating entirely in icons and punctuation marks :-)

Hello, and welcome back. Glad to hear you’re sounding better (and if you’re going to be poorly, at least flu has a bit of dignity about it).

The hare is very nice indeed.

Influenza sounds even better, doesn't it? Not that I felt very dignified when suffering from it - the usual alternation between wishing I was 5 again and my mother was there to give me Lucozade (out of the glass bottles with orange transparent paper, of course...) and then being very glad that no-one was there to see me sniffling and sneezing and being generally pathetic.

The hare thanks you for your kind words.

I'm glad you're back. I had noticed your absence...

Hope you're feeling a bit more the thing now. Make sure you drink a lot of warm liquids. Ginger tea is good if you can get it.

Oh, it's nice to know someone noticed I wasn't there! Ginger in all of its forms is good for colds, isn't it? I was thinking I should have some ginger wine around the place, so I could make some whisky macs or gingery toddies in future (although not with my best Scotch, perhaps!)

I might have been tempted to buy that Orlando book, by the way. It's the kind of daft thing I find myself doing from time to time. You were very wise to walk away.

Welcome back! Hope you're feeling a bit better. It certainly sounds like flu.

I've always liked that hare icon. I'm impressed you managed to stick with one default for so long, too.

Hello and thanks!

As I said to lyras, I like the idea of having an image that says 'here I am'. How far I'll keep to that with my new embarrassment of riches remains to be seen!

Is that more Mansfield in your icon?

Welcome back, and hope you're over the flu. Tea with rum is also good (but dark rum, not Bacardi).

I had a soft spot for the pine marten - I hope this doesn't mean we'll never see it again!

Hello! Illness all gone now. I am very fond with tea & rum, though I didn't have any around the place this time.

Here's your answer on the pine marten question!
