Weird that you're having possible vapor lock issues associated with the FS450's transducer. I've not had so much as a hint of problems and I've had the Rat Rod as high as 15,000. Coming home from Greeley last July it was over 100 degrees on the field, Greeley's at 4700 MSL so the DA had to be really high.
I wonder if there might be something in your particular installation.

Yeah, it's baffling. I had her up to 11,100 a couple months ago and had the same issue. I thought it was carb ice due to the moist air and cold temp, but carb heat did not help! Descending did. Other than the climb to 11,100 and the cruising at 7500, I've put 30 hours on it since the install and it's run perfect!

And heck... if I wad up my airplane and I walk away, it'll make for a really cool magazine article and/or a book!!
Plus, I have the plane insured for A LOT of money, so if it does die, I'll be able to buy a nice, sexy Cessna 140!! Taildraggers rock!
