Cincinnatomy 304: Methods of Cincinnatomy

I have recently been inspired to start updating this thing again. As much as I've grown to think that placing one's personal life on the internet for other's entertainment is kinda tacky, I think Livejournal is a good outlet for interesting and relevant writing - as I've been reminded of by rereading a few of my friends journals ( Read more... )

I wish I could spend a day hitting up Cincy thrift stores for 45's and such. There were a lot of really talented soul musicians from up that way back in the day so I;d like to educate myself more on some possibly awesome local releases.

Yeah, I don't mind Cincy. I have very few friends there, but my times there have been pretty interesting. Generally, if I go to Northside or Clifton it's because I'm pressed for time and want to eat at a restaurant I've eaten at before. Or I want to go to Shake It Records. But, like the Highlands, it's not my favorite part of the city. The weird parks on cliffs are pretty fucking cool. They remind me of Iroquois park's overlook.

The people I've met from there are all pretty different from each other. I think that the aesthetic of post-Appalachian diaspora/urban decay has sunk way into the look of that place and I really like it; it reminds me of Pittsburgh in that way. I sorta wish I knew more reasons to go up there and actually learn the city. I always get lost when I'm up there.

That's the thing, there's really not much of a reason to explore here. If i didn't have to be here I probably wouldn't bother. But I feel less and less of a reason to go back to Louisville, so...
