What the fuck? I don't really follow television, so I just looked to see what my DVR was set to record tonight and it's recording the Presidential Address. Um...what? And it won't let me cancel the recording. Did I miss something here?

I think DirecTV automatically records certain things that you SHOULD be watching, according to it. All crap. I dont think you can delete it either, but it does expire after 30 days. I can't remember what it's called, but it's like a subsection of VOD where the auto-crap is stored. I assume it's all crappy shows that have paid to be included, which makes me curious why the presidential address would be in there. makes no sense. hopefully, by the time i get around to posting this, someone smarter will have come up with the real reason.

Also, I dont know what happens if you want to record something at the same time as the auto-crap.

Also, maybe you dont even have DirecTV.

Also, maybe those extra crappy shows I didnt ask for that are on my harddrive are automatically downloaded instead of actually recorded live. I just don't know.

sorry.

I think you're right, I have heard that Tivo and Direct TV record things that it thinks you should watch. The crazy part is that I don't HAVE one of those programs. I have the basic recording thing from Time Warner Cable that only records what you ask it to. It's never recorded anything for me before. Ever.

I mean, clearly the government has pulled some strings, but still. I didn't want to watch it. I read the newspaper the next day because I can't stand to listen to that fool speak.

It's just creepy.

CREEPY!

And yeah, what would have happened if my TV had been set to record two very important shows, like "Growing Pains" and "That's So Raven?"

I believe he owns the "or something." "Or something" being the portions of the world that Steve Jobs and Bill Gates don't own.

It's "the man" his is watching your every move! Also the presidents ratings are so low he probably figured that if he force people to listen they would like him better (which of course isn't at all true). I personally equate the sound of The President's voice to shredding Styrofoam with a cheese grater but that’s just me...

Holy crap! It's just like that song by Hall & Oates. You know, "Private eyes...are watching you. Pri-i-vate eyyyyyyyyyyyes, are watching you watching you watching watching you..."

This response really made me want cheese.

GET OUT OF MY HEAD!
