The $2010 Challenge car progresses. There have been setbacks which require creativity to recover, but over all, it's still within my anticipated timeframe. The busted ignition cylinder turned out to include a shattered wiring harness, so we're replacing a $600 setup1 with $20ish worth of rocker switches, a start button and a few feet of wire from ( Read more... )

There is a trick to those brake lines...

Because they are on solid lines they don't like to bend very easily. So you thread them in first BEFORE you put the master cylinder on the vacuum booster. Then tighten everything down.

We tried the front line fitting in both holes of the new cylinder and it threaded fine. We then tried the rear line fitting in the old cylinder and it wouldn't thread. We ended up bending the line up 90 degrees & using a banjo bolt to connect it.
