With the new season upon us, and fandom all extra-enthusiastic, I figured now would be a great time for this. Because there can never be enough Downton Abbey fic, and there certainly isn't enough now!
He would have expected more sympathy from a nurse.
She didn't laugh at him as such - and, in his defence, it was a strong branch of the common cold (and now that he thought about it there was something in her eyes, something that was there every time he looked a little under the weather - almost as if he could read the words 'heart murmur' there) that had him confined to bed for the moment - but there was a wry look on her face as she sat down beside him, handing him a warm drink.
"I could've made honey and lemon myself." He protested, and she rolled her eyes, as if to ask him who, precisely, was qualified here, and why on earth was he complaining
