Protection I feel is about intention and communication but spells, rituals have a way of convincing us something is so, so for that reason they can help.
If I was gonna buy something about it, I'd buy this: http://worlddancenewyork.com/products/magic-rituals-how-to-sacred-space-psychic-self-defense-energy-balance

Yes, I have a list somewhere as I have scoured the internet regarding occult books and practices and have checked out hundreds of books that are available on many topics, I have filtered through a lot of books i wouldnt recommend, but there is a lot of good stuff I have found out there too... I will get back to you with what might be best to start with regarding protecting yourselves ( ... )

This is the most important thing to know...The ritual itself is a physical action that represents the firm, impenetrable intention you first state and set in your mind...The action, is the ritual, and it is specifically an action or can be a series of actions that represents, affirms, validates, your sole and complete intention to define your sacred space...

I will go look~~~

yes it makes complete sense. I already have the feeling that I know how to protect myself through my own rituals. I just think it would be good to look into some other rituals people do. I learned at a very young age how to visualize light, and put it around myself and people I care about.

I used to suffer from sever nightmares, and my step dad (who is a practicing shaman) taught me how to work with my energy, and confront the things that were scaring me in my dreams. Now that I'm older I don't have nearly as bad of nightmares, however when I do they really suck! lol.

But yeah, I think I already know what to do. I also know it can't hurt to do research on what other people do to protect themselves.

The Ghost Hunter's Survival Guide: Protection Techniques for Encounters With The Paranormal [Paperback]
Michelle Belanger (Author), Cindy Jones (Author)

I think this might be a good one...(I really like Michelle Belanger)

Product Description
Ghosts can't hurt us, right? Guess again! Chasing the unseen has become a popular American pastime, but how can we protect ourselves from mischievous ghosts, astral parasites, and malevolent spirits? Michelle Belanger, a rising star in the paranormal community, comes to the rescue with a self-defence programme for ghost hunters - or anyone vulnerable to a spirit attack. Proven successful by Belanger and other paranormal investigators, these easy-to-learn mental exercises can be used to protect homes, shield against harmful entities, and remove unwanted spirit guests. Interlacing each chapter is a gripping, true ghost investigation conducted by Belanger, which provides context for understanding when to use these potent defence strategies.
